From Campus to Champion: SF Network Skater Olga Mikutina Takes the 2026 Winter Olympics

When Olga Mikutina steps onto the ice representing Austria at the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan, the SF Network will be right there with her. A Business Administration major at Montclair State University, Mikutina spent last fall refining her technique at the Montclair State University Ice Arena—an SFC-managed facility that has become a critical base for her Olympic preparation.

Student. Employee. Olympian.

Mikutina’s daily life is a masterclass in discipline. She balances a full course load, work shifts, and campus life with 15 hours of on-ice training per week.

“It’s all about time management,” Mikutina says. “I write down all my tasks and schedule my day very well.”

For elite athletes like Mikutina, proximity is performance. The Montclair State University Ice Arena provides a consistent, high-quality training environment just steps from her classroom, allowing her to seamlessly transition between academic obligations and elite competition preparation.

“I’m really thankful that our campus has its own ice arena,” she notes. This accessibility allows her to pursue a dual career path—building a future in business while competing on the world’s biggest stage.

The Road to Milan

Mikutina’s journey to the 2026 Games is defined by excellence. Having already competed in the Beijing Olympics, she secured her spot for Milan at last season’s World Figure Skating Championships and successfully defended her Austrian national title in December.

Her path to Montclair spans continents. Originally from Ukraine, she moved to Austria at age 12 to pursue higher-level competition. When it came time for university, she stood at a crossroads: retire from competition or find a way to balance it all.

The presence of an on-campus rink managed to professional standards helped tip the scales. It offered Mikutina a new training home that supported both her academic and athletic ambitions.

“I found an amazing coaching team here,” she says, referencing both Montclair and the nearby Ice House in Hackensack. “They saw potential in me and believed I could achieve much more. They gave me the belief that I should keep going.”

Power and Charisma on the Olympic Stage

“At the Olympics, I will try to surprise the judges with my charisma. I want the judges to fall in love with my energy and to feel the power of me skating,” she says.

As Mikutina prepares to captivate the world in Milan, her story serves as a testament to the SF Network’s commitment. We don’t just manage buildings; we provide the operational excellence and high-quality environments that allow world-class ambitions to thrive alongside community needs.
