For the past 27 years, Pecos, Texas, has held its yearly Christmas celebration, which has evolved into a week of family-friendly Christmas activities, movie nights, and an annual Christmas tree lighting. And with the event entering its fifth year at Cyclone Ballparks, it will continue to bring families together and highlight the warmth, lights, and shared anticipation that signal the season.
Origins of the Celebration
Prior moving the event to Cyclone, it started as a community-organized tree lighting where local students performed, and fireworks crowned the night. Originally, the Pecos Rotary Club was tasked with putting on the event every year. And that grassroots feeling remains even with a different venue.
Thanks to the success of the event, its programming has expanded—most notably with the “25 Days of Christmas” series for the 25th anniversary. However, the classic kickoff ceremony remains as its anchor event. Each year, gates open at 5:00 PM on the first day of the festival with live music, family games and activities, and treats available for purchase; the official tree lighting begins at 7:00 p.m., followed by fireworks and Santa’s arrival.
Christmas Events at the Ballpark
The Annual Tree Lighting serves as the anchor for this event, featuring a countdown, fireworks, a student performance, and an appearance from the big guy himself, Santa. An entire month of celebrations follows, including movie nights, Breakfast with Santa, a Christmas light drive-through, and ice skating rink specials.
The amenities included at Cyclone make it the perfect host facility. The lawn space provides a natural hub for ceremonies and gatherings, making it ideal for hosting the Christmas Tree Lighting. On-site parking makes it simple and easy for families to get to the event as efficiently as possible.
Community Impact
The Cyclone Ballparks Christmas Celebration is designed to welcome residents into the heart of Pecos’ holiday season. From the Annual Tree Lighting kickoff to a month of movie nights, light drive-throughs, and Breakfast with Santa, the celebration makes it easy to find your perfect night under the lights—bring the family, snap photos, and create traditions you’ll look forward to every year.
Beyond the festivities, the celebration helps the whole community shine. You’ll feel the hometown pride as local students perform, partners pitch in, and guests enjoy nearby shops and restaurants. With multiple dates and family-friendly activities, it’s simple to join the fun—whenever your schedule allows—and be part of what makes Pecos feel warm, welcoming, and connected all December long.
Thoughtful programming and multi-channel promotion help grow attendance while strengthening community impact—building family traditions, showcasing local youth, and encouraging visits to nearby shops and restaurants. Backed by long-term venue investments and strong partner support, the celebration delivers a warm, welcoming experience that keeps Pecos shining all season.
