Middle School Students Compete in Inaugural ‘Gateway to the West’ Robotics Competition

02/01/2024
Ohio County Schools wrapped up their “Gateway to the West” robotics middle school competition Thursday. For two days, dozens of students from across the country, and even Canada, put their robots to the test at The Highlands Sports Complex. This week’s event marked the first time the tournament took place, but school officials plan to continue the competition in the future. “We have 60 middle school teams competing in a round-robin tournament that culminated into a single elimination tournament with a champion,” Ohio County Schools Innovation Director JoJo Shay said.
