Rally for Good: Pickleball Power Fuels Georgia Nonprofits

“Two years ago, when the Macon Mall was transformed to open Rhythm & Rally Sports & Events, we knew we’d built something big…” said General Manager John Roberts. “What we didn’t expect was how much this place would come to mean to all of Middle Georgia.”

Today, the world’s largest indoor pickleball facility is pointing that community energy outward. The powerhouse venue has launched its “Rally for Good” tournament series, which uses internal league play and open weekends to raise funds for local nonprofits. How much closer can you get to SFC’s mission of improving the health and economic well-being of communities they serve?

From Busy Facility to Civic Engine

Every day on the courts, Roberts and his team see what happens when sport becomes a shared language.

“We see people who would never cross paths anywhere else, playing together, laughing together, looking out for each other,” Roberts said. “This place has become one of the most active civic spaces in all of Middle Georgia, and it still amazes me.”

The Rally for Good series is designed to translate that spirit into tangible impact. What began as a growing number of one-off charitable pickleball tournaments has now been formalized into a year-long civic league that:

  • Ties each event to a local/regional nonprofit partner
  • Directs 10 percent of every player’s entry fee to that organization, while nonprofits keep 100 percent of the sponsorship revenue they bring in
  • Awards points not just for winning, but for participation, donating, and championing each partner’s mission
  • Recognizes both competitive excellence and community leadership through a Champions Cup and a Community Cup at the end of each full season

“It’s a league where everyone makes a difference,” Roberts said. “Every match matters so much more.”

A Lineup of Middle Georgia Causes

Rally for Good’s inaugural abbreviated season is already stacked with organizations that touch every part of Middle Georgia’s civic fabric. The schedule includes events benefiting:

  • Ocmulgee National Park & Preserve Initiative (ONPPI) – coalition working to create Georgia’s first national park along the Ocmulgee River.
  • Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Georgia – supports families with seriously ill or injured children.
  • Macon Mental Health Matters – brings free mental health resources and wellness programming into the community.
  • Otis Redding Foundation – expands youth opportunity through music education and arts programs.
  • Middle Georgia Association of REALTORS® – regional network supporting real estate professionals and local housing initiatives.
  • Macon Pride – celebrates and advocates for LGBTQ+ inclusion and community pride in Macon.

The first Rally for Good event, Paddles for the Park, took place on January 24–25, 2026, and supported ONPPI.

“The work they are doing will shape Middle Georgia for generations,” Roberts said. “We’re proud to help support such an important regional effort.”

Rhythm and Rally

Filling Open Weekends, Fueling Impact

For Rhythm & Rally and The Sports Facilities Companies, Rally for Good is more than a feel-good program—it’s smart operations.

The series helps:

  • Fill traditionally open weekends with mission-driven events that attract both local and regional players
  • Deepen relationships with community partners who bring their own audiences, sponsors, and storytelling power
  • Give existing leagues and casual players a new reason to stay engaged year-round

Rhythm & Rally’s 166,000-square-foot, 32-court complex was built to be busy. By dedicating a series of weekends to Rally for Good, the team is transforming open calendar slots into recurring, revenue-generating opportunities that also return dollars directly to the community.

Each Rally for Good partner retains full sponsorship revenue, creating a powerful incentive for nonprofits to lean in and for local businesses to connect their brands with both sport and social impact.

A Playbook for Mission in Action

The Sports Facilities Companies’ mission—to enhance the health and economic well-being of communities—is built into Rally for Good’s DNA. The series:

  • Promotes physical activity and social connection through accessible, co-ed pickleball play
  • Drives economic impact through tournaments that bring visitors, hotel stays, and local spending to Macon and Middle Georgia
  • Elevates organizations addressing critical regional needs, from mental health to housing stability

“Rally for Good is built on a simple belief,” Roberts said. “Sport can strengthen community, and community can strengthen an entire region.”

Building a New Civic Tradition

As Rally for Good grows into a full-season civic league, Rhythm & Rally will cap each year with a Rally for Good Awards Banquet, recognizing both on-court champions and standouts in community impact. It’s the kind of tradition that keeps players coming back, keeps weekends booked, and keeps crucial local work funded.

“Whether you play, volunteer, sponsor, or just cheer from the sidelines, there’s a place for you in this,” Roberts said. “This is the beginning of a new civic tradition for Middle Georgia, and I’m excited to build it with you. Let’s rally for good!”
