Imagine growing up in a small town, witnessing the joy and excitement of special community spaces like a local pool, and eventually becoming the guide of that very place. For Sabrina DeHoyos, a proud daughter of Artesia, New Mexico, this story is her reality. Now, she is set to inspire and impact the lives of residents as the newly promoted general manager of Artesia Aquatic Center (AAC).
Born, raised, and deeply rooted in Artesia, Sabrina’s journey with the aquatic center started four years ago. She began her journey as a front desk team member and quickly climbed the ranks to her current position because of her dedication, expertise, and passion for the community. This makes for an impressive four promotions within just a few years, a testament to her hard work and commitment.
As a Certified Pool Operator®, American Red Cross® Lifeguard Certified, Lifeguard Management Certified, and CPR/AED/First Aid Instructor, Sabrina brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to her new role, overseeing a team of approximately 70 staff members. But as a proud mother to a 3-year-old son, it’s her connection to the community that truly stands out.
“I couldn’t be more honored to continue serving the community that has given me so much,” shares DeHoyos. “As someone who has grown up in Artesia, I understand the importance of having a local, family-friendly place where people can come together, stay active, and create lasting memories.”
DeHoyos expressed her commitment to upholding the high standards of service and safety that members and guests have come to expect. She noted that her goal is to ensure that every visitor to the AAC feels welcome and leaves with unforgettable experiences.
“Sabrina is a dedicated professional who has worked tirelessly for our members and guests in Artesia,” praises Ken Cobb, Vice President of SFC Aquatics. “We are fortunate to have a local operations manager so tied to the community and committed to the aquatic center.”
For DeHoyos, it’s not just about fitness or entertainment– but also about building a stronger, healthier, and happier community.
With four unique bodies of water for visitors to enjoy, including an outdoor bulldog recreation pool, complete with a lazy river and three water slides, the AAC is a place where everyone can access fun activities in their own backyard. Through various programming, the community will continue to be served with a smile and the dedication that comes from being homegrown.
Sabrina DeHoyos’ extraordinary journey from a local girl to the general manager of the beloved aquatic center is a true testament to what dedication, passion, and a deep love for the community can achieve.
